To create a true urban experience in a shopping mall restaurant and to bring the city of Mechelen in and breathe it from every nook and cranny, that was the assignment. Proud to say we managed to realize exactly that, in a very limited amount of time.

What’s the right way to install a lively hospitality hub in an otherwise soulless environment like a peripheral shopping mall? That’s the question the people at Brouwerij Het Anker asked themselves when they started Maneblusser City in the Malinas Retail Park. The answer? Bring the city in!
Eat, drink, mingle, and explore a true Belgian gem in this clever hospitality design.
A new urban experience after each exit
And bring Nachtraven in, too. Our answer? An interior design that combines numerous urban experiences in different zones with distinct urban looks and feels: a railway platform, a skatepark, city scenes with playgrounds, bars, patios, urban art, and brickwork all connected by a central roundabout that connects everything. There’s something new to see with each visit, after each exit.
Also, we managed to complete this ambitious project in just two months, from concept to opening ceremony. No sweat, no glory, right?
